New approaches within age old techniques of tintype and daguerreotype processes with Anton Orlov. Space is limited to 12, so make sure to follow the link for tickets! Anton is a wealth of experience and information regarding the history, mechanics, and technology of creating his one-of-a-kind Tintypes and Daguerreotypes. This is a gallery exclusive event and is a great precursor to the mastery behind Anton's work and workshops that will follow and will be held at the Oak Gallery.   • Lecture will include an introduction and brief history of Tintypes and Daguerreotypes with a focus on the work produced by Anton Orlov. 
  • Anton will share a variety of personal work from both processes that can be handled after the lecture.

Artist Bio:

Anton Orlov has been working in the darkroom since 1989, and in 2006 he received a B.F.A. degree in Photography from San Jose State University.  Anton is the creator of The Photo Palace Bus, a traveling darkroom and presentation space.  Currently working in his North Park studio in San Diego, Anton’s work centers on reinvigorating the historic techniques of daguerreotype and wet collodion.  Anton led tintype workshops in over a dozen states and has presented numerous lectures including magic lantern shows.  His daguerreotype work was the recent recipient of the Irving Pobboravski award in Tokyo and has been published in the US and abroad.  To see some of Anton’s work and for contact info visit http://thephotopalace.blogspot.com
